Spacious Japanese-style rooms.
Nothing.

Spending Xmas here was the best decision ever! This place is a real gem. The staff were lovely and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The dinner was fantastic. We particularly liked the DIY cooking in soup/broth or on a hotplate; it was such a fun experience! The traditional Japanese music playing in the corridors was really enjoyable and set the mood for our stay. The onsen was a highlight too, very clean and relaxing.
The rooms were a bit dated and needed some refurbishing. We also found the lack of power outlets inconvenient.

Amazing Onsen, beautiful surroundings in a forest area, clean rooms, and helpful staff.
Nothing, all excellent.

The staff was welcoming and helpful during our stay. The onsen was a highlight of our trip, with both indoor and outdoor tubs and a stunning frozen waterfall. The traditional dinner was fantastic, with plentiful and varied dishes cooked at the table in front of us. We enjoyed the peaceful and remote mountainous surroundings.
The rooms felt outdated and musty, with faded elegance that didn't quite make up for the lack of modern amenities. The food was mostly Japanese and quite expensive, with few Western options offered. Additionally, the hotel had strict checkout policies and would not hold our luggage after the early checkout time, leaving us with a full day less to explore the area.
